Inspiration Post: Everything Is Illuminated

Just watched Everything Is Illuminated for the millionth time last night (it is probably my favorite movie ever). This time around, I found myself more focused on the aesthetics of the movie. I went through the movie again today and took screenshots from the film that I found to be artistically inspiring.

Completely in love with this pendant. I could be wrong since I never read the book Everything Is Illuminated, but a bug in amber to me is a symbol of being trapped in the past. Not necessarily negative ("trapped" sounds like such a negative word, but I can't think of a better one for the life of me). It always makes me think of a quote by Kurt Vonnegut from Slaughterhouse-Five:

"All time is all time. It does not change. It does not lend itself to warnings or explanations. It simply is. Take it moment by moment, and you will find that we are all, as I've said before, bugs in amber."

I feel like something like this could make for a really cool store display. Little tiny accessories in bags tacked all over a wall.

Probably my favorite bit of comic relief in the movie. Broken english slays me every time. I went ahead and made my own "officious seeing eye bitch" shirt in honor of Sammy Davis Jr. Jr. herself!

I love the dull simplicity of this room. Desaturated color palette, minimal furniture, and a single, bare bulb hanging from the ceiling. While I probably wouldn't want to live in a room exactly like this one, I think it would be a really great backdrop to a photograph or anything of the sort.

The low saturation in these last two screenshots is totally dreamy, which I'm so into. I recently took this photo, in which I was going for a similar vibe:
